Internal Affairs/Professional Standards Investigations 2014

For the 2014 calendar year, the Department of Public Safety conducted a total of twenty (20) internal investigations.

Nineteen (19) involved sworn personnel.

One (1) involved non-sworn personnel.

Of the twenty (20) complaints investigated, one (1) was exonerated, six (6) were sustained, nine (9) were unfounded, and four (4) were closed by investigation, unable to substantiate.

As a result of these complaints, one (1) sworn employee was suspended, three (3) sworn and two (2) non-sworn received written warnings, five (5) received verbal conversations on professionalism/expectations, and four (4) received remedial training.

Three (3) Complaints that were received alleged bias comments/incident.

One (1) complaint was received that alleged sexual harassment.

Three (3) complaints identified training issues and were addressed in remedial training. One complaint identified policy issues and was addressed through verbal conversation.
