Department of Public Safety Investigating Reported Bias Incident in Sadler Hall

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating an incident in Sadler Hall reported to DPS on Sunday, November 10 by two students. The students discovered a “Hitler” style mustache drawn on an existing, unrelated cartoon character on their whiteboard as well as the words, “Nein Nein.”

DPS officers met with the impacted students and have provided information about resources and support available to them. The drawing and language were previously erased from the whiteboard. DPS is reviewing available CCTV footage and speaking with individuals who live in the building for leads. Anyone with information is urged to contact DPS.

“The University’s priority is the safety and well-being of all members of our campus community and is committed to upholding a respectful environment,” says Craig Stone, DPS chief and associate vice president. “We take these matters very seriously and will promptly investigate all such reports.”
