On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at approximately 3 a.m., the Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a sexual assault. The student reported that the assault occurred near the Thornden Park amphitheater on Monday, April 25 around 8:30 p.m. According to the student, the suspect, an unknown male, approached and grabbed the student, then told the student not to scream because he had a weapon. The suspect then proceeded to forcibly touch the student before fleeing the scene.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately 40 years old, wearing a black sweatshirt and black ski mask.
DPS has turned over the investigation to the Syracuse Police Department (SPD) and both agencies will be working collaboratively on this case.
