Classes Canceled on Monday, Dec. 2; Only Essential Services Personnel Should Report to Campus

Central New York is under a Winter Storm Warning, with forecast of icy conditions and significant snow accumulation today (Sunday, Dec. 1) and into tomorrow (Monday, Dec. 2). Syracuse University officials have determined to cancel on-site classes on Monday, Dec. 2. All online classes are scheduled as planned.

With many students and other members of the campus community returning to Syracuse from the holiday break—and road conditions in certain areas being poor and many airline flights and trains canceled—the University urges individuals to use caution and take whatever time is needed for travel. Test of Orange Alert to Be Conducted Wednesday, Oct. 23

Syracuse University will conduct a test of the Orange Alert Campus Crisis Alert Notification System on Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. It will be a full test of the personal email, text message, cell voice and campus phone components of the system. The test will also include the Orange Alert outdoor siren system on the University’s North and South campuses. For additional information visit news.syr.edu.

Syracuse University to Remain Open Today (Jan. 31, 2019)

After reviewing the most up-to-date National Weather Service data and following consultation with an independent meteorologist this morning, Syracuse University will remain open today (Thursday, Jan. 31). However, and as always, campus community members should be aware and take precautions when severe weather is in the area. For more information, visit news.syr.edu.

Nighttime Classes Canceled Today

Due to extreme cold temperatures forecasted for this evening through early tomorrow morning, with wind chills reaching as low as -30 degrees, Syracuse University has determined to cancel all nighttime classes as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Additionally, all University-sponsored events scheduled for this evening are canceled. The University otherwise remains open at this time. For more information, visit news.syr.edu.
