Public Information

The Department of Public Safety believes that an informed campus community is automatically a safer campus community. With this in mind, we strive to be timely and accurate in posting public information to our website, including a comprehensive list of reported incidents for the past 60 days, digital copies of the public safety notices disseminated to the University community, a map of Blue Light locations throughout the campus area, and an annual report detailing our programming and summary crime statistics for the past 3 years. To learn more about the department’s mission and code of conduct, please review the Department of Public Safety Duty Manual.

To send a media interview request to the Public Information Officer for scheduling, please submit our Media Request Form with at least 5 business days before your deadline.

Engaging with External Law Enforcement
If any member of the campus community – student, faculty, or staff – is approached by an officer from an outside law enforcement agency, you have the right to contact Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety first.

Simply let the officer know you would like to call DPS, then dial 315.443.2224. A DPS officer will respond and guide the interaction from there.
