Public Safety Update: Robbery

On Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, at approximately 1:45 a.m., two students were reportedly robbed at the intersection of Ostrom Ave. and Clarendon Street. The students reported that the suspect – an unknown male – pulled up near them, exited his vehicle and approached them. The suspect displayed what appeared to be a knife and demanded their belongings. One student gave the suspect $7. The suspect then returned to the vehicle and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a male, wearing a black shirt, black hat, and a black bandana covering his face. The vehicle is described as a tan sedan with multiple dents on the side of it.

Public Safety Update: Alleged Incident Determined to be False Report

On Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at approximately 12:53 a.m., a 911 caller reported being threatened by a man with a weapon in Oakwood Cemetery. The Syracuse Police Department (SPD) requested the assistance of the Department of Public Safety to secure the perimeter while a search was conducted. Upon further investigation, SPD determined the 911 caller falsely reported the allegations, concluding that no incident ever actually occurred.
