Public Safety Alert: Strong Arm Attempted Robbery

For the protection and safety of su students, faculty, staff and neighbors, the department of public safety releases the following alert:

Strong Arm Attempted Robbery

A student reported that on March 29, 2017, at approximately 4:25 PM, two males knocked on a door of a residence hall room at Ernie Davis Hall and attempted to rob him. They asked the student “where is the sh*t.” The student reports he was unclear what they were referring to. They searched the room and left without taking any items.

The descriptions include suspect #1 – male, six feet tall, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, with white sleeves, white sneakers, and a small mustache. Suspect #2 – male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a dark blue navy hoodie, dark sweat pants with white stripes.

The suspects fled on foot, last seen running westbound on Waverly Avenue. The victim sustained a small laceration to his chin and is complaining of soreness to the throat/neck area.

The DPS is asking for your help in identifying the suspects if you were in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

Public Safety Alert: Shooting

For the protection and safety of SU students, faculty, staff and neighbors, the Department of Public Safety releases the following alert:

Shooting

On Sunday, February 19, 2017 at approximately 02:37 a.m., at Marshall St and University Ave, witnesses reported a shooting that occurred off campus. The three male victims are not affiliated with the university. They were shot in the area of Marshall Street and University Ave. The three victims were taken to University Hospital for medical treatment. Suspects were last seen leaving the area in a white, SUV, on Marshall Street in an easterly direction of travel.

DPS asks your help in identifying the suspects if you were in the vicinity at the time of the incident. For this purpose, the following is the description of the suspects: Three (3) Males, unknown age, armed with an unknown firearm, no further description.

Public Safety Informational Notice: Sexual Offense

For the protection and safety of SU students, faculty, staff and neighbors, the Department of Public Safety releases the following informational notice:

Sexual Offense
The Department of Public Safety has received information regarding an incident that occurred on February 13, 2017 at about 9:30 p.m., in the 300 block of Marshall Street involving a student being approached from behind, and inappropriately and unwillingly touched by a male. The suspect is 20-35 years old, about 6’0 tall, skinny build, with scruffy facial hair light in color, wearing a zipped – up coat of unknown color and dark pants. The male was last seen headed South on Comstock Ave.

Public Safety Information: Fraudulent Phone Scheme

For the protection and safety of SU students, faculty, staff and neighbors, the Department of Public Safety releases the following alert:

Fraudulent Phone Scheme (Date Issued: 1/13/17)

Please be advised of a recent fraudulent phone scheme. A student received a phone call from an individual claiming to be the FBI. The individual told the student that they owed funds to the IRS. The caller confirmed the student’s personal information, including their SU major. The student was then told that if they did not pay the fees they owed they would be arrested and deported.

Please be aware that the FBI does not make phone calls on behalf of the IRS, nor does the FBI or the IRS conduct business by use of the telephone. Also, please do not give out your personal information if you do not know who is calling you or to an unknown source on the internet.
